Need Some Help Please :-)

So I am planning a design wall and would love to have your input…

Would you do the wall in white or black? I have seen many done in white, but one of the quilt shops I visit has one done with black flannel. I like the look but wonder if there is a reason I should stick with a white background.

What do you think?
Thanks for the input. 🙂

Happy Quilting!

I would make the wall white for this reason–It will be easier for you to see any light colored fabric you put on the wall. Making the wall black will make your light colored fabric look darker than it is and it will throw off the look of your quilt.

A black wall will work only if you plan to use dark and/or bright colored fabrics. I have been quilting for 10 years and sewing for 45 years. I hope I have helped you!

Good input. Although I love the idea of a black wall, I have been wondering how it would affect fabrics. I know I like how black makes fabrics “pop”. Thanks!

I was at Sandy’s house this past week learning at long-arm quilting. It was fun! But Sandy had an entire closet door(sliding) done in “whatever” fabric she used for her “design” door. I was there for several hours before I even noticed it. Why? Because it just blended in seemlessly with the rest of her room. I only noticed threads when I really looked at it. I think her room set-up is brilliant. BOTTOM LINE- I think you need to consider what kind of look you are going for.
